Read Up On The Green Deal Now

The threat of global warming is an issue that simply refuses to go away. The increasing reliance on fossil fuels amongst property owners is partly responsible for the overall temperature of the planet rising and the government has recognised the need to do something about it via the impending ‘Green Deal’.

Too many UK homes and places of business are currently poorly insulated, leaking heat and wasting energy. This alone contributes over a quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions and also results in people having to fork out a fortune on energy bills.

Due to launch in late 2012, the Green Deal will give householders and businesses the opportunity to install energy efficiency measures without paying for it in advance. Instead, they will be able to approach their current energy provider for a loan to cover the initial cost and pay it back through the savings made on future energy bills.

Any savings made through a homeowner’s chosen energy efficient product must be equal to or greater than the costs attached to the energy bill. This means that over the 25 year lifespan of a product you could potentially earn more than you spend.

If there comes a time when you want to move home, your Green Deal payments will then be passed onto the new owner of your property. The energy efficiency of your property may even give buyers the incentive they need to put in an offer for your home.

The UK is committed to an ambitious greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of 80% by 2050 as part of The Climate Change Act 2008 and it is hoped that the Green Deal will enable them to reach this goal.

It isn’t clear yet exactly which type of energy efficient measures will qualify for the Green Deal. Although it is not expected that conservatories will be included, it is hoped that products such as double glazing, triple glazing and other types of replacement windows will be involved.

Government figures released in the past few days have shown that an estimated 5.5 million people were affected by fuel poverty in 2009. That figure is expected to rise to 6.4 million households as and when four of the remaining six main energy suppliers in the UK announce imminent plans to raise their prices.

Get Ready For The Green Deal

With household energy prices continuing to rise, many householders have been left wondering how on earth they are going to be able to afford to keep warm this winter.

The key benefits of this approach are that the upfront costs are removed and the savings exceed any extra cost to the energy bills irrespective of how long somebody lives in a property. Furthermore if the property is sold before the full repayments have been made, it passes on to the new owner of the house.

With the UK committed to reducing carbon emissions by 80% by 2050 this initiative will certainly help in reaching this goal as well as reducing individual household energy bills.

While there is no standard ‘Green Deal’ measure or improvement that will be used on every home it is expected that products such as Double Glazing, UPVC windows and UPVC doors will be included.

Conservatory Outlet Announces Recruitment Of Hazlemere Windows

Wakefield-based Conservatory Outlet and High Wycombe’s Hazlemere Window Company have joined forces in a deal that will enable the former to increase its presence in the South, and the latter – a successful aluminium fabricator – to increase its sales of UPVC products.

Established in 1985, Hazlemere is prominent in Buckinghamshire and is known even further afield for its work in the commercial sector, having manufactured aluminium windows, UPVC doors and curtain walling for more than 25 years.

UPVC is also a major part of Hazlemere’s business and, when looking for a new supplier, the board of directors were keen to find a partner that could not only manufacture products worthy of the Hazlemere brand, but also help them to increase sales in the domestic market.

Conservatory Outlet was the obvious choice. The fabricator, which serves a network of regional installers from across the UK, is well known for supporting its customers in the form of qualified retail leads, lead generating websites and high quality bespoke marketing literature.

In joining the network Hazlemere Window Company becomes the fifteenth Conservatory Outlet dealer, but one of only a handful in the South of England. By attracting such reputable and successful installers, Conservatory Outlet has been able to achieve a 34% UK coverage per capita, with ambitions of reaching 50% in the near future.

And just weeks after agreeing a deal with Conservatory Outlet, Hazlemere demonstrated the sort of ambition that makes them a perfect fit for the network by starting work on a new 8,000 square foot showroom which, now complete, features a vast array of UPVC, aluminium and composite products, as we as conservatories and double glazing.

Local MP Steve Baker opened the Hazlemere showroom, situated next to the company’s equally impressive 38,000 square foot aluminium factory, on Friday 13^th May 2011. Far from being ill-fated, the day was a huge success with representatives from the local and trade press present, as well as a constant stream of customers.

The official opening was followed by a series of open weekends during which potential customers were greeted with Champagne, canapés and luxury coffee to enjoy as they browsed the new showroom.

Tony Beale, sales director of Hazlemere Window Company, said: ‘Becoming a Conservatory Outlet dealer will enable us to boost our domestic sales of UPVC products, without neglecting the other sectors that we serve. We’re already seeing a payback from the decision to join the network and invest in a new high-end retail showroom.’
