Defeat The High Cost Of Energy With Double Glazing

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Ideally our homes should be warm and cosy in the winter and cool and fresh in the summer but this isn’t always the case.  A lot of the energy we use to heat our homes is lost through poorly insulated walls and windows which is not only harming the environment but it is costing UK homeowners a small fortune.

Double glazed windows are one of the most energy efficient options on the market and to enable customers to fully understand the product that they are buying, all windows are now graded with an energy efficient rating. Recent developments in window technology now mean that some windows will actually help to heat your home by harvesting free energy from the sun. The average life expectancy of a double glazed window is around 25 years, so you could stand to save a lot of money.

Not only does it help to reduce your energy bills, but double glazing is also a lot more secure compared to traditional single glazed windows providing you with greater peace of mind.

It is installed complete with locking handles and multiple safety systems making them much harder to force open and break. Most modern windows are now made from UPVC rather than timber so they will require much less maintenance compared to traditional windows and they won’t rot or disintegrate over time.

Double glazing is not only useful for your windows, they can also be applied to conservatories and orangeries making them much warmer during the winter months. The colours and finishing used can also be matched to the windows and the rest of your property making your home much more appealing aesthetically.

Overall, investing in a new set of windows will be well worth it in the long run, they are more energy efficient, secure and require little maintenance.

Read Up On The Green Deal Now

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

The threat of global warming is an issue that simply refuses to go away. The increasing reliance on fossil fuels amongst property owners is partly responsible for the overall temperature of the planet rising and the government has recognised the need to do something about it via the impending ‘Green Deal’.

Too many UK homes and places of business are currently poorly insulated, leaking heat and wasting energy. This alone contributes over a quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions and also results in people having to fork out a fortune on energy bills.

Due to launch in late 2012, the Green Deal will give householders and businesses the opportunity to install energy efficiency measures without paying for it in advance. Instead, they will be able to approach their current energy provider for a loan to cover the initial cost and pay it back through the savings made on future energy bills.

Any savings made through a homeowner’s chosen energy efficient product must be equal to or greater than the costs attached to the energy bill. This means that over the 25 year lifespan of a product you could potentially earn more than you spend.

If there comes a time when you want to move home, your Green Deal payments will then be passed onto the new owner of your property. The energy efficiency of your property may even give buyers the incentive they need to put in an offer for your home.

The UK is committed to an ambitious greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of 80% by 2050 as part of The Climate Change Act 2008 and it is hoped that the Green Deal will enable them to reach this goal.

It isn’t clear yet exactly which type of energy efficient measures will qualify for the Green Deal. Although it is not expected that conservatories will be included, it is hoped that products such as double glazing, triple glazing and other types of replacement windows will be involved.

More details are expected to be announced before parliament takes its annual summer break so watch this space…

Fuel Poverty Best Avoided With Double Glazing

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

Government figures released in the past few days have shown that an estimated 5.5 million people were affected by fuel poverty in 2009. That figure is expected to rise to 6.4 million households as and when four of the remaining six main energy suppliers in the UK announce imminent plans to raise their prices.

A huge number of those people living without heating are aged 60 or over. With British winters becoming harsher every year, this could have enormous implications on the health of pensioners and with no price cuts on the horizon, homeowners are being urged to take things into their own hands.

This means improving insulation in your home. As well as introducing roof insulation, any person living in fuel poverty is encouraged to purchase double glazing as it has the ability to encourage energy efficiency. Whenever you turn your heating on, your new windows will ensure that as little heat is allowed to escape from your home, meaning you can use your heating far less often.

No longer will you have to worry about feeling the cold as your windows can store heat for long periods of time. Using your boiler less will also be beneficial for the environment as far too many of us are currently over relying on our heating and this is damaging to the planet as a whole. The burning of fossil fuels only seeks to contribute to the growing threat of climate change.

Any money you spend on new windows will be money well spent as the average lifespan of double glazing is a minimum of 25 years. This means you won’t have to take any similar courses of action during this time.

The cost of energy is only expected to rise in the coming years so prepare for the worst now along with a conservatory or an orangery.

Get Ready For The Green Deal

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

With household energy prices continuing to rise, many householders have been left wondering how on earth they are going to be able to afford to keep warm this winter.

As many UK homes suffer from the problem of being badly insulated any warmth quickly escapes from the property and vast amounts of energy are lost. This results in hundreds of pounds being wasted every year and overall contributes to over a quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions.

So with this in mind the Government is set to revolutionise the energy efficiency of British properties with the introduction of the ‘Green Deal’, the first scheme of its kind in the developed world.

Due to launch in autumn 2012 the initiative will allow homeowners to make energy efficient changes to their homes up to the value of £10,000 which can be taken out as a loan. This can then be paid back at a later date, over the next 25 years, through savings made on their energy bills.

The key benefits of this approach are that the upfront costs are removed and the savings exceed any extra cost to the energy bills irrespective of how long somebody lives in a property. Furthermore if the property is sold before the full repayments have been made, it passes on to the new owner of the house.

With the UK committed to reducing carbon emissions by 80% by 2050 this initiative will certainly help in reaching this goal as well as reducing individual household energy bills.

While there is no standard ‘Green Deal’ measure or improvement that will be used on every home it is expected that products such as Double Glazing, UPVC windows and UPVC doors will be included.

More details are expected to be announced later on this year detailing how homeowners can apply for the scheme.

Let French Doors Brighten Up Your Life

Monday, August 1st, 2011

A bright household makes for a brighter atmosphere and depending on the positioning of your home you may not be benefitting from it like you should. At the peak of summer, natural sunlight is around us for 14+ hours so it makes sense to take advantage of it and if your home feels somewhat dull and dreary you should purchase a set of French doors.

French doors can be installed at the back of the home, but when natural sunlight hits them they will illuminate the entire interior of your dining and living room. The glass will reflect as much outdoor light as it can into the confines of your home and the frames will act to keep any cold air away from it.

The aesthetics of French doors are their key selling-point as they come with the finest lines and glass that looks immensely pleasing to your eyes. They can also help make your property more energy efficient as they will store any heat that is generated in your property and put it to good use.

If you combine a new set of doors with replacement windows, you will soon come to realise how much of a difference they can make as far as cutting the cost of your energy bills is concerned. Your energy bills will literally be slashed in half and it will all be because of the effectiveness of your doors and windows at trapping warm air and keeping out the cold.

On those freakily hot summer days and nights, you can open your French doors inwards or outwards to better ventilate your home. An enormous amount of fresh air will invade your living space and give you great relief from the heat.

Combine your doors with conservatories for the most spectacular home in your neighbourhood.

Conservatory Outlet Announces Recruitment Of Hazlemere Windows

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Wakefield-based Conservatory Outlet and High Wycombe’s Hazlemere Window Company have joined forces in a deal that will enable the former to increase its presence in the South, and the latter – a successful aluminium fabricator – to increase its sales of UPVC products.

Established in 1985, Hazlemere is prominent in Buckinghamshire and is known even further afield for its work in the commercial sector, having manufactured aluminium windows, UPVC doors and curtain walling for more than 25 years.

UPVC is also a major part of Hazlemere’s business and, when looking for a new supplier, the board of directors were keen to find a partner that could not only manufacture products worthy of the Hazlemere brand, but also help them to increase sales in the domestic market.

Conservatory Outlet was the obvious choice. The fabricator, which serves a network of regional installers from across the UK, is well known for supporting its customers in the form of qualified retail leads, lead generating websites and high quality bespoke marketing literature.

In joining the network Hazlemere Window Company becomes the fifteenth Conservatory Outlet dealer, but one of only a handful in the South of England. By attracting such reputable and successful installers, Conservatory Outlet has been able to achieve a 34% UK coverage per capita, with ambitions of reaching 50% in the near future.

And just weeks after agreeing a deal with Conservatory Outlet, Hazlemere demonstrated the sort of ambition that makes them a perfect fit for the network by starting work on a new 8,000 square foot showroom which, now complete, features a vast array of UPVC, aluminium and composite products, as we as conservatories and double glazing.

Local MP Steve Baker opened the Hazlemere showroom, situated next to the company’s equally impressive 38,000 square foot aluminium factory, on Friday 13th May 2011. Far from being ill-fated, the day was a huge success with representatives from the local and trade press present, as well as a constant stream of customers.

The official opening was followed by a series of open weekends during which potential customers were greeted with Champagne, canapés and luxury coffee to enjoy as they browsed the new showroom.

Tony Beale, sales director of Hazlemere Window Company, said: ‘Becoming a Conservatory Outlet dealer will enable us to boost our domestic sales of UPVC products, without neglecting the other sectors that we serve. We’re already seeing a payback from the decision to join the network and invest in a new high-end retail showroom.’

Tony’s counterpart at Conservatory Outlet, Greg Kane, expanded: ‘Hazlemere Window Company is quite clearly a very successful business with a number of strings to its bow. Importantly, they have the infrastructure in place and the ambition to start receiving the leads that we generate and thrive as a Conservatory Outlet dealer.’

UPVC Windows Are A Great Energy Efficient Measure

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

The UPVC window was created in reaction to the fact that conventional supplies of energy were diminishing and the window was one of the main causes of this. Frames used on old windows tended to become less and less reliable as time progressed and they began to get older. This results in draughts appearing in the home and a vast majority of energy being wasted. New windows counteract this and it is essential that all modern day homes invest in them.

UPVC windows are specially constructed so that the glass and frames trap as much heat as possible so that homes stay insulated at all times. The glass can even transfer heat and energy created from the sun into your living space so that you can rely on your heating system that little less often, which in turn helps people save energy. The price of their energy bills will also decrease as a result of this.

Your carbon footprint will also be cut once you have new windows placed in those rooms you use and heat most regularly. This is better for the environment as a whole and will help ensure that traditional fossil fuels can be replenished for future use by younger generations of people.

Homes will never be as secure as they are once they have windows, conservatories or French doors installed. Windows come fitted with an extremely tough locking system designed to prevent anyone from breaking in. Once locked, it will be incredibly hard for someone to gain access to your home as the UPVC window is also internally glazed so that the glass cannot be removed from the outside.

Once you replace your windows you don’t have to think about doing it again for the foreseeable future as the lifespan of a contemporary window is 20 years.

Use Your Garden More Regularly Via Patio Doors

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Opening your home to the outdoors is not always achievable with a conventional back door. A door will only open a certain amount and may not give you the connection between home and garden that you were looking for. Living in a small property complicates matters even further. Conservatory Outlet suggests that in such cases you consider the patio door as an alternative.

Patio doors from Conservatory Outlet continue to be a popular choice for many UK homeowners as they are a great way of linking home and garden. A step through your patio doors will give you instant access to your back garden, so it overcomes the problem of living in a small home as you can open up the space into the rear of the property.

Increase security is another reason why you should invest your money into these ever helpful doors. The doors are installed with a multi-point locking system, designed to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to gain entry into your home without your permission. The UPVC frames used on windows and doors nowadays is so tough that causing damage to them is virtually impossible.

Their weather resistant nature also eliminates the need for any maintenance on your part, taking the pain out of looking after them. The glass is also easy enough to clean, with a good wipe down with a cloth usually all its takes to get them gleaming. The rolling mechanism the doors run on could also do with the clean as it will guarantee that the doors open easily from side to side, giving you fast access to the outdoors.

The best way we can demonstrate to you how our patio doors and conservatories can change your abode is by inviting you to come and see us at your nearest Conservatory Outlet showroom.

Double Glazing At Conservatory Outlet Will Make Better Use Of Energy

Friday, April 29th, 2011

The EC has revealed that the amount of energy used in the UK decreased between the period 2000-2008. This is great news for the government and the country as a whole as it has never been as important to ensure that we are relying on energy less often as over usage is damaging to the planet.

Conservatory Outlet wants to help the UK improve on these figures even further by encouraging more people to rip out their old windows and doors, replacing them with our energy efficient equivalents.

Our double glazing is composed of tough UPVC frames and two thick panes of glass, each designed to enhance the amount of heat that can be stored within a room. Once fitted as a replacement for traditional windows, they will have a dramatic effect as no longer will you have to keep your heating on for long periods of time. Turn your heating down and your windows will still act to keep the warm air circulating around the room.

If you have recently taken a look at your Energy Performance Certificate you should know that homes are rated on an energy efficiency scale of A-G. Conservatory Outlet refuses to stock any windows which are below a C rating, as we want homes to continue to waste as little energy as possible.

For the full effect, you could also look into letting us place some new doors at the front and rear of your property. Combining new windows and doors is the quickest route to ensuring energy efficiency. Conservatory Outlet also has all the conservatories designs you need to make your home a comfortable and contemporary retreat.

Patio And French Doors Are Must-Have Items

Monday, April 25th, 2011

When you move into a home you will often look to buy a property that offers splendid views of the outdoors. There is nothing better than being able to sit in your favourite chair, while sitting back with a drink and looking on at everything that is going on outside. Unfortunately, not everyone has that luxury, but such problems can usually be overcome with simple measures. Conservatory Outlet recommends that anyone in this situation should look to have some new form of doors installed.

Patio doors and French doors are perfect for those homes lacking a good vantage point from which you can look on at the garden and everything going on in the natural landscape. Not only that, but they will also bring in new-found light thanks to the natural rays of the sun which can brighten up the entire interior of a living or dining room.

When you think of doors such as these you will usually associate them with a traditional white colour. Although this is usually the most popular choice of finish for homeowners, you will now find that such doors are available in a vast variety of different colours. This means that you can easily blend doors and home more easily.

Our doors don’t solely offer aesthetic qualities. They will also help make your property more secure as they come installed with a multi-lock system that can be locked with ease. This will lower the chances of someone getting into your home without your permission, allowing you to leave your home empty without worry.

The easiest way to make a decision over doors and double glazing is to visit your local Conservatory Outlet showroom. All products are assembled and on display so that you can view them in all their natural glory, helping you make the right decision.
