<p>&#8220;March has been a record month for <a title="Conservatories" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk">conservatories</a> and <a title="Double Glazing" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk">double glazing</a>, the best we have ever had.&#8221;</p>
<p>How many companies in the <a title="Conservatories" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk/">conservatories</a> and <a title="Double Glazing" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk/">double glazing</a> market can say that, truthfully? So when Matthew Glover, managing director of Conservatory Outlet made the claim, was I hearing yet another double glazing salesman’s extravagant verbiage?</p>
<p>Matthew Glover does not fit the image of the archetypal double glazing salesman. In fact he strikes one as being unassuming, thoughtful and even cerebral, the instinct to trust this man coming out strongly. So what does he have to back up his claims, which in fairness come from Matthew as being simply conversation rather than any ‘sell’.</p>
<p>“Our sales are up by 25.5% for quarter 1 compared to a similar period last year,” explains Matthew. “Granted it was a poor period generally but compared to 2008, we were ahead by 47% so we are seeing consistent year on year growth.</p>
<p>“But March has been a record month for us; the sales leads generated through our web sites grew by 41% and our conversion rate has been excellent too; homeowners appear to be actively looking. This growth is due to retail sales through our network showrooms.”</p>
<p>The Internet is a key part of Conservatory Outlet’s marketing support offer for its dealers which is regarded as one of the best in the business, including as it does a full Internet provision through its own web site in addition to custom web sites for its dealers. Search engine optimisation is the key however, with continuous activity taking place to ensure Conservatory Outlet and its dealers are continually at the top of all the major search engines, usually topping all of the big national retailers. <p>However, appointed dealers must bring something to the party, explains Matthew: “A Conservatory Outlet dealer must show us that they understand retail and are enthusiastic and ambitious. A showroom is essential as is a commitment to undertaking marketing to complement what we do for them. We provide the framework for this also however.”</p>
<p>Sales have grown organically and are already being compounded by a drive for new dealers to spread the reach of Conservatory Outlet nationally: “Frankly we are wasting leads as our core internet activity reaches all corners of the UK. Our latest dealer, Housemaster based in Hertfordshire, enjoyed a huge number of fresh sales leads when he joined us earlier this year and we have many other areas where we can pass on the best leads available.”</p>

<p>Conservatory Outlet is widely regarded to be a Yorkshire and Northern-based outfit. However, a recent push by the company&#8217;s managing director, Matthew Glover, resulted in widespread interest from companies based in the south.</p>
<p>Clive Brimmell, owner of Hertfordshire&#8217;s based Housemaster Home Improvements decided to join the network after learning that Conservatory Outlet was generating leads for the southern half England that didn’t have local member companies available to service them.</p>
<p>After Housemaster Home Improvements was able to prove its credentials as a competent retail company – including owning a showroom – Conservatory Outlet built a modern website (<a title="www.housemasterhome.com" href="http://www.housemasterhome.com">www.housemasterhome.com</a>) for the company, which immediately started to generate business and sales enquiries from website visitors throughout Hertfordshire &amp; Bedfordshire searching for the latest <a title="Conservatories" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk">conservatories</a>, <a title="Orangeries" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk/orangeries.php">orangeries</a> and energy saving double <a title="Double Glazing" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk/">double glazing</a> and doors for their home.</p>
<p>As a result, Housemaster Home Improvements’ first month brought in approximately £250k, compared to £160k for February 2009, knocking aside any worries brought on by a recession.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Clearview Home Improvements was formed just two years ago by John Beaty with long standing associates Chris Mitchell, sales director, and Andy Ross who has a lifetime of installations behind him. Within that time Clearview claims that it has become the largest retailer of <a title="Conservatories" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk">conservatories</a> in the North West of England. Without verification we await the counter claims of others in the region, but to even be a contender within that period makes the claim impressive.</p>
<p><a title="Clearview" href="http://www.theconservatoryoutlet.co.uk/conservatories.php">Clearview</a> installs, on average, 60 <a title="Conservatories" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk">conservatories</a> a month with a sales value of £7.5 million last year through its established branches in Leyland, Lancashire and Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. The Warrington branch opened earlier this year is confidently expected to boost the company’s sales by a further £2.5 million in its first 12 months.</p>
<p>Such growth would be impressive under any conditions but with <a title="Conservatory" href="http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk.php">conservatory</a> sales falling off a cliff over the past three to four years, it is quite remarkable. And yet according to sales director Chris Mitchell there are no miracles behind such prodigious growth: “Sorry to disappoint you but there are no big secrets behind our success; and to use a cliché it is down to professionalism – doing what any company should be doing but, I guess, doing it very well. Our combined experience has allowed us to avoid the pitfalls and growing pains that other start ups may experience, which means of course that there has been no learning curve.”</p>
<p>Another key element in the company’s success, says Mitchell, is its membership from day one of the Conservatory Outlet network: “We needed a first rate marketing and promotional campaign. Obviously we had several options including of course the development of our own strategies. We also looked around the market place to see what others were doing, what was successful and of course, what was not. We were aware of Conservatory Outlet and that it was a sort of networking operation and we were very impressed with what we saw.</p>
<p>“It appeared to be a sort of franchise, although on closer inspection there are no fees or tie-ins and we were able to retain our own identity as well as utilising the Conservatory Outlet brand. Our commitment to Conservatory Outlet was to buy product from them – all of our windows – for which in return we could tap into what we believe is in many respects the best retail marketing operation in the UK window and conservatory business.”</p>
<p><a title="Clearview" href="http://www.theconservatoryoutlet.co.uk/conservatories.php">Clearview</a> supplements the marketing it receives as part of the Conservatory Outlet network with its own television advertisements and extensive promotional activity across the region, in addition to local support for each store. “We do spend a considerable amount of advertising and promotion,” says Mitchell. “Advertising still works, although the way in which we advertise and promote ourselves is very different from when I began in the industry. The Internet is now a major factor in our lead generation.”</p>
<p>One of the key benefits that Clearview and other network members enjoy from Conservatory Outlet is the main national web site, in addition to an individually styled and hosted site that is customised – and importantly, optimised – to their company, in their specific area. This follows the strong and clear corporate identity of Conservatory Outlet but will also carry specific messages and design elements that are specific to each network member.
